Overview
The University of South Alabama (USA) is a public university located in Mobile, Alabama. It was established by the Alabama Legislature in May 1963. It replaced extension programs that the University of Alabama ran in Mobile. The university's first classes took place in June 1964 with 276 students enrolled. Its first graduation ceremony was in June 1967, when 88 students earned bachelor’s degrees.
