Tuskegee University is a private school for Black students located in Tuskegee, Alabama. It was established on July 4, 1881, by the Alabama Legislature as a normal school for training teachers. In 1974, the campus received recognition from the National Park Service and is now a National Historic Site called the Tuskegee Institute.
